About the OBC

Our History

The Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) Business Council, often referred to as the OBC, was established to be the unified voice of the private sector across the OECS member territories. Its purpose is to advocate for the interests and concerns of businesses at the regional policy-making level.

Originally formed around July 2015 under the guidance of Sir K. Dwight Venner (Governor of the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank) and the ECCB, it was envisioned as an essential partner to governments in shaping an enabling business environment.

What is the OECS Business Council (OBC)?

The OECS Business Council (OBC) is the principal representative body of the private sector within the OECS region. Established to advance regional economic integration, the Council champions the creation of a more cohesive, competitive, and resilient business environment across the Eastern Caribbean.

Serving as the unified voice of the private sector, the OBC facilitates structured dialogue between businesses and OECS policymakers. It plays a pivotal role in shaping regional policies and strategies that influence trade, investment, innovation, and entrepreneurship.

The Council is composed of national private sector umbrella organizations from each OECS Member State, including Chambers of Commerce and industry associations. Collectively, these members guide the Council’s strategic direction and represent a diverse cross-section of businesses across multiple sectors.
